Before first use

Prepare.
Operate.
Cool down.

  1. Prepare the heater. Install the ducts and exhaust correctly. Add suitable clean diesel. Install four approved, matched cells; displayed voltage must be above 15.0 V for battery startup. Use only an approved external supply if needed, and leave the batteries installed.
  2. Start and stabilise. Follow the manual's startup sequence. First ignition can take longer while fuel reaches the burner. If using external power, keep it connected for at least 5 minutes after stable ignition; disconnect only when operation is normal, with batteries installed.
  3. Shut down normally. Press ON/OFF and allow the 3–5-minute cooling cycle to finish. Wait until the fan stops and LCD backlight goes out before switching off main power or disconnecting any remaining external supply. Remove cells, move or pack the heater only after all parts have cooled.
Install safely. Keep exhaust outdoors.

Exhaust contains carbon monoxide and must discharge outdoors, away from doors, windows, vents and air intakes. Maintain ventilation and use a certified CO alarm wherever people may be present. Never operate in an enclosed, poorly ventilated or sleeping space. Do not switch off main power or remove batteries during operation or cooldown. Disconnect an external startup source only under the manual’s stable-ignition, minimum-5-minute and normal-operation conditions, with installed batteries able to support transition and shutdown. Keep any remaining external supply connected through cooldown. Read the full manual before use.

Do not switch off main power or remove batteries during operation or cooldown. Disconnect external power only as instructed after stable ignition; keep any remaining external supply connected through cooldown. This overview does not replace the full user manual.

Technical information and supplied equipment

For MH-04D and GMH-04D. Specifications and operating guidance follow the updated user manual and manufacturer confirmations. Performance varies with heat setting, ambient temperature, altitude, fuel and unit condition.

Heat output and sound level

Both models provide 4 kW heat output under normal operating conditions and up to 5 kW during continuous operation at −40°C ambient temperature. Actual output depends on the selected level, ambient conditions, fuel quality and heater condition.

Manufacturer-reported sound level: 30–60 dB measured at a distance of 1.5 m. Sound varies with operating level and conditions.

Fuel and electrical supply

Diesel consumption: 0.10–0.38 L/h. Electrical power consumption during stable operation: below 40 W. Peak electrical demand during startup: approximately 95–105 W.

The listed heater voltage is 16.8 V DC; this is not a fixed external-source requirement. The approved external DC startup range is 12–28 V. Use an approved compatible source and the supplied lead. Before connecting another source, confirm the required continuous and peak current, connector, polarity and wiring instructions for the supplied configuration. Do not assume that every 12 V or 24 V supply is suitable.

Startup batteries and charging

Use four approved 26650A ternary lithium-ion startup cells. The manufacturer specifies 4.2 V and 5000 mAh (5 Ah) per cell. For battery startup, use fully charged cells and confirm that the displayed voltage is above 15.0 V. Check the supplied cell label and charger instructions; do not select replacement cells on the basis of size alone.

With the supplied charger, the manufacturer reports more than 90% charge in about 3 hours, sufficient for startup. Charging time depends on battery voltage and charging current; use the charger indication to assess charge. Obtain the approved replacement-cell and charger specification before replacing them.

Startup and self-generation

Install all four approved startup cells, including when using external power. If the cells cannot supply sufficient ignition current, also connect an approved external DC source as instructed in the manual. Keep the batteries installed for transitional support and safe shutdown.

The XL1906 thermoelectric module begins to contribute around 5 minutes after ignition. Around 10–15 minutes after startup, stable generation can cover the heater’s internal electrical demand across all heat levels 1–9 without battery discharge for normal running. Batteries can supply a shortfall during the transition. Timing depends on operating conditions; elapsed time alone does not prove stable self-powered operation. Keep the cells installed to support transition and safe shutdown if generation is insufficient or fails.

Disconnect an external source only as instructed in the manual: after stable ignition, maintain the connection for at least 5 minutes, confirm normal operation and confirm that the installed batteries can support the transition and shutdown. Keep the batteries installed. The minimum 5-minute connection period does not prove that battery discharge has stopped.

At 25°C ambient temperature, the manufacturer reports XL1906 laboratory generation of 15, 19, 25, 27, 31, 34, 36, 37 and 39 W at heat levels 1–9 respectively. These are generated-power observations, not net power available for USB devices or battery charging, and are not guaranteed output under all operating conditions.

Cold-weather preparation and normal shutdown

The heater’s operating ambient range is −40°C to +40°C. This refers to the heater’s surroundings, not the startup-cell temperature. Use diesel suitable for the expected temperature and follow the battery supplier’s temperature limits.

For startup at −40°C ambient temperature, do not attempt ignition with cells chilled to that temperature. With the heater off and cool, remove all four cells and gently warm them above 0°C, for example in protective cases inside clothing. Refit the warm, fully charged cells before startup. During operation the batteries are warm and remain installed; never remove them during operation or cooldown. Do not use flame or hot surfaces to warm cells.

Use ON/OFF for normal shutdown. The fan cools the heater for approximately 3–5 minutes. Keep batteries installed; they support safe shutdown if generation falls or fails. Wait until the fan stops and the LCD backlight goes out before switching off main power or disconnecting any remaining external supply. This completes electrical shutdown but does not prove that the exhaust is cool. Remove batteries, handle exhaust parts, move or pack the heater only after all parts have cooled.
